How soon can I start?

Often within 24 to 48 hours of your first call. Once we verify your insurance and complete a brief clinical assessment, we work to get you scheduled as quickly as possible. Same-day assessments are available. If you are ready to take the next step, the fastest thing you can do is call us now, we will move at whatever pace works for you.

What happens during the first call?

The first call is simple and low-pressure, usually 10 to 15 minutes. Someone from our admissions team will introduce themselves, listen to what is going on, and ask a few questions to understand your situation. We will answer your questions honestly, explain your options, and walk you through what next steps might look like. There is no pressure to commit to anything on the first call. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you and help point you in the right direction.

Do I need to detox before starting treatment?

Not necessarily, it depends on your situation. Many people can begin our PHP or IOP directly without medical detox. However, if you are physically dependent on alcohol, benzodiazepines, or opioids, a medically supervised detox may be the safest first step before starting an outpatient program. We will assess this on your first call. If detox is recommended, we will coordinate a referral to one of our trusted detox partners and support your transition into our program once you are medically stable.

What is the difference between PHP and IOP?

Both are outpatient programs, meaning you live at home, but they differ in intensity. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) runs 6 hours per day, 5 days per week and is designed for people who need a higher level of structured clinical support. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) runs 3 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week, offering more flexibility for people managing work, school, or family responsibilities alongside treatment. Our clinical team will help determine which level is the right fit for you based on your specific needs.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth options are available for clients who are unable to attend in person or who prefer to begin their care remotely. Telehealth is not available for all services or levels of care, but our admissions team can discuss what is available for your specific situation and help you determine if it is a good fit.

Is what I share confidential?

Accepted Answer

Yes, completely. Everything you share with us is protected under federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, which provides additional protections specifically for substance use disorder treatment records. We do not share your information with your employer, family members, or anyone else without your written consent. The only exceptions are narrow legal requirements such as imminent risk of harm, and we will always be transparent with you about those. You can call us and ask questions without any of it going anywhere.

What if I have tried treatment before and it did not work?

You are not alone in that, and it does not mean recovery is not possible for you. Treatment outcomes depend heavily on the fit between a person's needs and the program they are in. If a previous program was not the right match, the right one can make all the difference. At Shine, we take the time to understand your history, what has worked, what hasn't, and why, and we build your care plan around that. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all treatment, and we do not give up on people who have had a hard road.

What if I am dealing with depression or anxiety along with addiction?

This is extremely common, most people we work with are navigating both. We offer integrated care for co-occurring mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, trauma, and others. Our psychiatric nurse practitioner conducts evaluations and provides ongoing psychiatric support alongside addiction treatment. All of our care is trauma-informed, meaning we approach every client with the understanding that mental health and substance use are deeply connected, and both deserve attention.
